SUNGAI SIPUT: Unlike most city kids her age, 12-year-old Siti Hamidah Kasim had only a limited knowledge on how to use the computer.
Her only exposure was during computer lessons at her school and even these were brief encounters as there was limited fuel for the generator which supplied the electricity.

However, the KPerak Kidz programme changed all that.

Siti Hamidah was among 24 lucky pupils from four Orang Asli schools who joined 42 other pupils from seven rural schools in Perak.

The programme is aimed at exposing students to the world of information and communications technology.
"I knew very little about computers before I attended the camp. Now, I have acquired some useful knowledge.

"The camp also gave me an opportunity to make friends from other schools," said Siti Hamidah, who is from Sekolah Kebangsaan Rancangan Penempatan Semula (RPS) Grik.

The programme was organised by KPerak Implementation and Co-ordination Corporation (KPerak INC) with the assistance of Warisan Global Sdn Bhd, Perak Education Department, Perak Orang Asli Affairs Department and Perak Foundation.
